The "no cookie" cookie...the Nookie?

Mmmmmm..who doesn't love a warm fresh batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies?

My bikini!! That's who!

So, lately the hubs and I have been on this crazy "paleo" "innate" all natural all the time diet lifestyle. It's paid off (lost a few, sleep better, great skin, great hair, more energy.....etc etc.), and honestly, it hasn't been much to complain about. So we eat sweet potato fries instead of the 'ol regular ones, use honey and agave instead of sugar, quinoa instead of rice and pasta, loads of meat, fruits, veggies...and SMOOOOOTHIES! (oh my Jesus how I love my morning smoothie, it's almost an addiction that needs therapy...almost)

And COOKIES! Cookies are (naturally) an innate staple in my diet life. Do not deprive me of the warm hot gooeyness fresh from the oven. Two dozen lasts about ten minutes in our house. No exaggeration.

So I finnally nailed a "NO" cookie my hubs and I both devour (no flour, no sugar, no butter, no dairy (chocoalte chips don't count;-)).

So without further ado...and by request of my chocolate faced lover. Here it is:
(note: I NEVER measure...anything. Ever.)

  • About 1-1&1/2 cups oats
  • About 1/2-2/3 cup ground oats or nuts (I like to use wall nuts, pecans and almonds, but tonight I only had oats and they worked just fine, it just creates a slightly "cakier" cookie..I use my coffee grinder to ground the oats/nuts, it does a much better job than my magic bullet!)
  • 1-1&1/2 mashed banana (I pureed mine in the magic bullet with a little almond milk)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2-1cup honey (I use the taste and add method) You could also split honey and agave or real maple syrup (just make sure it's the real stuff)
  • Splash of almond milk (just enough to make it look like cookie dough)
  • Teaspoon BS (baking soda)
  • Teaspoon vanilla
  • Chocolate chips (you could use carob, but I've never tried carob before...maybe next time!)
  • Dashes of cinnamon and salt
  1. Whisk eggs, honey and mashed banana
  2. add milk
  3. add oats, oat or nut "flours" and BS
  4. add cinnamon and salt
  5. Mix, taste, tweak
  6. Scoop, plop, bake at 350 for 8-9 min

Enjoy...guiltlessly!

Boogers.

I’m sitting here, in my living room, listening to my baby and her daddy on the baby monitor. It’s kinda like spying…kinda.I feel sly.
(*insert sly looking picture)

It’s early. And, for one reason or another (ok…for one reason, really), I stopped drinking coffee; but instead decided to substitute it for hot cocoa because it’s…black-ish...kinda like coffee. It doesn’t work the same. And really it’s not even early…somewhere between sweat pants and text books…and bouncy seats and binkies, 7:30am became late. I’m guessing it’s about the same time 10:30pm became late. The sudden change…or lack of…sleeping habits has significantly impaired my judgment. Let me explain..

Yesterday, I did not shower. I ate cookie dough for lunch. I whipped several juicy baby boogers on my pants. I might not have brushed my teeth. (Let me just say I am married, I know I am starting to sound REALLY attractive right now…) I cleverly bypassed the mirror several times, until I answered the door sometime in the afternoon…(people not related to me do not need to be exposed to that kind of….raw beauty).  So I decided to wash my face and brush my hair…some time after 6ish(pm) I threw on cloths I did not sleep in the night before and caked on some mascara, and left the house.

Sometime between “It was great! We didn’t go to bed until like 3 in the morning!” and “It was great! We went to bed at like 9:30!” …boogers become less gross.

Maybe I’ll keep these blog things short…You know, to encourage frequency.

Let’s talk again before another month goes by.

Well, I figured I might as well start my new year’s resolution off right away. And, by the way, I decided this would be my resolution as I typed that last sentence.

I’ve titled this blog Hippie Mama respectively so…
My ‘lil sis, bless her strange little heart, had a dream that I turned into some crazed hippie with a fully self sufficient house, complete with roof gardens and compost piles. Apparently, in this dream world, I had figured out how to use nuts as fuel to supply all our energy needs.

She’s a nut herself…

But the whole time all I was thinking was “cool, burning nuts for fuel…I wonder if I could get that to work”
And so… Hippie Mama! (Be who you are)

So my blogging begins…2010

Oh, the holiday season…well…the Christmas season (because we don’t sit at a football game and yell out “GO FOOTBALL”, right Reyes?)
Christmas 2010…probably the best Christmas EVER! I got to wake up in my own little home, with my own little family, and sit by our tree… lights twinkling…fire crackling, it was heaven.

My hunk surprised me with these beauties…

I’ve always wanted a pearl necklace…like some 1950’s housewife or something…they just make me feel pretty J
We spent the morning eating homemade cinnamon rolls (they get better with time, I hope),

Sitting by the fire (in our 1st annual Christmas jammies), and wishing for snow.

Then, off to the ‘rents! Most of the day was spent talking in a language consisted mostly of vowels hovered above the cutest face on earth…

(Sounds something like “ooobababaaaamaaaalammmaaaoooo”)

There were presents galore...

...food, food and more food…and let’s just say it’s a good thing I wore those stretchy pants.

All in all it was a good one….a great one J
